Washburn Sunset
We just got done with a busy day of image hunting, we swung by The Steak Pit in Washburn Wisconsin, a great restaurant with this view from our table, it has and an outside deck too.
Have a great day....It's hump day!
The tile in the studio is coming along well...maybe a picture soon,
Let me know what you think, please leave me a comment, thanks!www.photoperson.comwisconsinwashburnmarinaboatsvehiclesfall foliagesunsetthe smell of wonderful charring steak

Strong Falls
We are as far out into the wilderness as it gets and my low battery sign is flashing rapidly in the viewfinder.....and I have left the charger back in Nebraska in the cabinet. We are now in a race to get to Green Bay to purchase a charger for the camera batteries so the rest of the trip to Door County isn't a waste.
The next fall we visit on the way to Green Bay I fall jumping across the river....My jaw now has a large contusion on it and i again have hit the camera on the rocks hard, guess i'm not as nimble as iI once was.
All in a days fun.....let me know what you think of this, My face is better the swelling is gone.
A three second shot at F22 in total blue sky sunlight...I Put a four stop ND filer on to kill the light and a circular polarizer as well.....the water is cold this time of year.
Just to the right out of the picture is a CCC camp built in the early 1900's, there are hundreds of forest service workers eating lunch here for the day. The scent of fried chicken overwhelms the heavy fir smell of the bog that feeds the river system in this area. Last year this location had a bald eagle in the trees, it wasn't a very good picture but I was a newby then. The forecast for later today was rain and snow mixed sleet, we are headed south!strong fallswisconsinwww.photoperson.comfall foliagewaterfalls

Milling Around
Dell's Mill aka Clark's Mill with some Fall foliage all lit up in the morning sun......Great place, scenic area with lots of barns to shoot as well.
Image won First Place in the "Travel Category" n4c.us in October 2012, submitted through the Omaha Camera Club.
Comments are welcome, lots of Wisconsin images to upload....have a great day!

Lakeside Flotilla
Behind me is one hundred screaming kids on a field trip to Mirror Lake Wisconsin a State Park just south of the Wisconsin Dells. Not a likely day to go Kayaking it's forty two degree's out and the wind is whipping. None the less the tykes boarded the crafts and sped of to the nether reaches of the lake....we just happened by the park on our hunt for Fall foliage.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments yesterday....What do you think of this one?
Husker Nation is Bummed out...i'm not going to Ohio this week. Have a great Sunday!
There was a few instructors there to put the gear into the water for the kids...In fact he asked me if he had lined those up good enough for my shot....crazy huh... you just have to get out there amongst them Badgers, their harmless!mirror lakewisconsinlakefall foliageboatsvehicleskayakscanoewww.photoperson.com

Wisconsin....Again
Shot this image yesterday at three in the afternoon.
It was a better trip since we won, those Badgers are a good people.
Leave me a comment or two, thanks......glad to be back in town, only 2700 miles in six days.
They have had snow flurries twice already this fall in fact it is sprinkling a-bit during our shoot at this mill, low forties and a ten knot wind in our face.30SEP2012
Game of the Week
Here in Omaha the game of the week happened for us Friday night, the Millard South Patriots against the Westside Warriors....
42-26 The Westside Warriors wins! Our helmet goes off to #63 Mr. Chad....He's the MAN! Way to play "W" !

Among the Trellis
Looking for his brother above the sparrow waits to get some water.
Please leave a comment or two, Go Huskers....beat the Badgers, headed that way for the fall colors.
Have a great weekend.
Just a quick comment to the e-mail I got......75 feet away, i'm in the house setting tile...shootin images....that bald eagle your trying to get is at least 500 times larger and real slow....come by and and catch a real bird sometime! I'm working on one smaller than this, got this chickadee that blast around the yard.....half the size of this! Thanks for that e-mail bird man! You can leave a comment too sometime.17SEP2012
The Crosswalk
Our new Children's Hospital is now connected with the Methodist Hospital by this crosswalk. The colors were chosen by the children that were there when they designed it. The umbrella sculptor I had as my daily image are on the opposite side of the building to the left. Dodge street is the busiest street in Omaha......the one I reside on is second. This shot is looking East towards downtown.
Fall foliage is just getting good in Colorado above 8000 msl....where are you going to see it?
Have a great week!16SEP2012
Midtown Omaha
Husker Nation is content tonight.
Not many out and about, they use this grassy knoll for music events, the stage is right behind me so this is what a performer would see.
The Big Dipper over the right building........semi cool, wow, I suck, awesome?
Critique's welcome....Have a great Sunday!15SEP2012

Catching Some Shade
It has been mildly hot in the early afternoon and the wind is brisk from the south. I have started to mix our meat scraps and fats into the bird food, the nights are getting much colder and the birds are piling on the fat, our extremely cold Winter is fast approaching . We have had up to eight Jay's on the grounds at one time, seems our elder Jay's enjoyed the spring time this year.
Critique's always welcome.07SEP2012
Why Is He Here.....
About a quarter of the covey, they tolerate me in the morning as I bring them food but for the most part I am quite bothersome. Occasionally they will follow me across the yard if I am out all day and they are hungry.
These are the Newbies or yearlings.
I told them this was a family portrait and as with any family you always have those non conformist.06 SEP2012
Looking Over the Covey
It's Feeding time out on the range, the matriarch scans the yard for the sparrow munchers return. The Coopers hawk has not been around lately, there must be some road kill in the area.
He eats first gets what he wants then heads to his vantage point to watch over his covey.
Critiques welcome.....Have a great day thanks for looking at my work.04SEP2012
Hot Air
Another shot from Indianola Iowa. Single shot no HDR.
This flight was over the town of Indianola itself and the horizon just wasn't worth placing in the image, it's still hard to get this many balloons in one image here in middle America.
Today we have a panoramic photo contest at our local photo club, this is one I have entered in the anything goes catagory.www.photoperson.comballoonsiowaflightvehicleaircraftlighter than air

West Omaha Sunset
Hand held single shot no HDR.....the sky was on fire.
We came over to get a shot of the Husker flags that are right behind me but they were just putting them up....they also put a new statue up right behind me and made a mess, the baricades are up and construction debris was all over.
Three day weekend.....have a great one!

Coal Train Runnin...
Union Pacific country......Mr. Buffett needs a profit this quarter, headin west empty..... this is the favorite hobo hop on point in West Omaha.
The lost art traveling across America for free...there is a hobo convention each year.
Working back through the year and re-processing... finding some good oldies.

Glade Creek Gristmill
This is a remake, it is the first shot since I fell just upstream and broke the 15-35 mm off the front of the camera, the glimmer on the rocks is a shean of ice from the deep freeze the night before. I can't go out any further to the water because its so slick, and i'm hurt, I went ass over teakettle in a big way and am just now functioning.
America the Beautiful.....this is one of my favorite places.
Critique welcome.
This mill can be found in Babcock State Park, West Virginia.....ask them if they found my lens and a chunk of my pride.www.photoperson.comglade creek gristmillwest virginiawaterfallsgristmillsarchitecturebabcock state park

Sparrow Muncher
This Coopers Hawk showed back up to do some grazing in the back yard, she's 800mm deep sitting on the flag frames, single shot no HDR.
Clearing out the old and reprocessing some old work when I ran across this, taken Oct. 25, 2011....critiques welcome.
So September 17th is one year since Jr. got me into this crazy daily photo thing....Have I got better..yup...just by looking at your work, thanks for looking at mine.
Sometimes it's a pantload of work in an already busy world.
Taking a look back at all the sad processing I have done to some really great shots, deleted some three thousand, four to go. I will be posting some stuff like that before the Autumn season hits......plan the trip now and reserve the campsite great color is on its way.29AUG2012

Another Time
Found this wall mural done on tile in downtown Pella Iowa.
Let me know what ya think!
Wow....great comments! Yes this was shot straight on without a tilt shift lens, i'm guessing the mural is six feet tall so most of the shot is above me. The base of the mill is level as is the water at the rocks, the town is level as is the shaft coming out of the top of the mill....it was weird to process, stunning hand painted tiles though!
When we were there the area was super dark, it sits with three other murals each behind a gate placed in front of them these murals have a border that contain them....such an awesome sight and next time I go i will ask to have the gates open and set up the tripod....this is hand held real quick shoot and go.
Thanks Art got er done!14AUG2012
Into the Light
Another image from Indianola Iowa, first light and the problem for the week....bad weather. The mass ascension that happens Saturday night was cancelled due to weather just north of the field, in good weather eighty balloons lift off the airfield at one time, it was last year when I first got my new digital camera, we came here as our first event to try it out.
Single shot no HDR....please let me know what you see!13AUG2012
Dead Center
This is one of my favorite balloons, we saw it in Omaha at the Wine Festival with eight or so other balloons Friday night.
The flame is on and there really rocking back and forth....it was quite windy at liftoff....they had just lifted off about fifty yards away.
Can you believe it.....no crop! Hand held!
Thanks for all the great comments!09AUG2012
The Six Pack....
Could this be the Olympic Ballooning team mounting a strategic strike on the portacrapper with the famed bowling pin arrangement.....a clean sweep as they call it. The portacrapper with the individual duct taped inside is to the right of the image about a quarter mile....all of them are descending onto the airfield, they want a share of the loot when they tip it over.....If they tip it over, do they?...there is a balloon between them out of sight.
Single shot no HDR.
Your guesses are welcome!Evening Colors....
The sunset glistens off the balloon canopies at Indianola Iowa.
Back from Texas.... It was hot!
The misty look is just seriously high humidity....I am about a quarter mile from the subject zoomed in to 135mm over the trees. The pilots are a contestant in a contest to knock over a full portacrapper with a person in it.....The way I understood the contest; the balloon pilot and the portacrapper pilot split the money should someone knocks it over.....the door on the crapper is duct taped shut!....thanks Kara.
See the results tomorrow of this crapper caper!!!

Middle America
Not fly over country, Iowa always has the political frontrunners buzzing about the state.
The round coral is from yesteryear and the old hickory limbs are slowly being replaced around it.
Just west of Pella Iowa we ran across this barn with a line of thunderstorms looming behind it, hope you enjoy this.
Thanks to all who have made comments on my images for the past year.....even when they were not very good.....I hope you have seen my work get better I sure learned so much from the many many post here on the Dailies!
Thanks for making "The Glow" go to number one yesterday.....please comment good or bad I leave them all up including those special ones from trainwreck, my special friend who dislikes my pano style of photography.......I can't imagine why she can't post just one image for us to see.....your feedback helps me get better!29JULY2012
The Glow
Indianola Iowa, the first place I ever took a digital image, my one year anniversary having gone totally digital was yesterday....soon to be my first year on smug as well.
Seemed like out of the blue the wind started to come up a bit while the glow was going on, I was about six hundred yards back for the better part of the event I was a bit tired when I got to this spot on the field. There is a small hill I am setup behind that hides the many thousands of people watching.
Single shot non HDR....leave me a comment, let me know what you think!26JULY2012
Supercell Sunset
We haven't had rain for thirty days and tonight we got what seemed to be an inch.....the front rolled thru at six and I began watching the sky....we left at seven thirty and chased this supercell south into Sarpy County, we are just east of the town of Springfield Nebraska and the sun is setting behind me.
The dying light slowly creeps up the supercell, the wind is now gusting to forty knots out of the Northwest, this view is looking southeast.
There are many barns to shoot in this area.

River Life
The nightlife on the banks of the Missouri River before the City of Omaha fireworks display on the Third of July.
A home run derby and concert are going on at the stadium.
Ghost images abound across this fifteen second shot, the aircraft turns a complete one eighty as the river rolls silently by.
The kids are running down the bank into the water yet nobody is there, the fire is lit for the night....they are singing Piano Man by Billie Joel, it seems to be the CD for the night. .

Fruited plains
Found this supercell developing just north of Pisgah Iowa Saturday when we went chasing the aurora.
The corn is doing well here but it has turned nasty hot with no wind you can almost here the corn grow, the only reason these cells develop is from radiant humidity from the earth, they are typically slow movers and die very quickly this cell lasted all but 15 minutes the challenge then becomes finding something to put with it in the frame. Amber waves of grain coat the bank of the Soldier river and we are looking up into the watershed that produces it, this is a large valley at the top of the Loess Hills.
Make it a great week!
