Fire in the Sky
Wide angle 15mm shot for five seconds.
Two days of fireworks has done me in... hot temps, friends and eating great food is what the Fourth of July is all about....hope you had a great one.
This is an image from the neighboring community of Ralston a suburb of Omaha, the fireworks were last night on the Fourth.

Middle America
I am set up on the east bank of the Missouri River looking into downtown Omaha from Council Bluffs Iowa. There are thousands of people scattered about it is very warm and quite buggy, people are quite festive and amazed at the fireworks.
This image is all about the things you must search for ....the cell phone picture of the swimmers, the boys in the boat and the many ghost people in this frame. The Belllview Queen is under the bridge, it's great to live in America!
Of all the places I have seen fireworks this is the shot I have been a lifetime trying to get. Since PJ and I first set up in this location I have wanted just this image, thinking for months to try to at least place myself in position to get at least something salvageable..... This is a no HDR, single five second shot. I had been really watching the light and the effects on the camera many frames prior to this one, this shoot produced twenty five such shots just like this one, different fireworks, river motion and boat traffic in each one. The camera after pre sunset setup remains in a locked position on the tripod and I just plug in the numbers manually, paying close attention to the time intervals of each detonation.
I too have a large pile of firework pictures that in some form or fashion didn't quite look presentable, Check firework image off the bucket list......:-)) yea!
Downtown Omaha Nebraska Fireworks display.....they got done at 11 tonight, remembering a better Fourth of July above Niagara Falls :-((.

Date Night....
Best seat in the house, my chair is the one next to the NBC camera, centered on lane five.....how does this happen?
Hand held with my 8-15mm... the lights are going crazy and the crowd is rocking! Mr. Phelps is up soon for a final...
I hope she had a great time....I know I did, thank you. It was amazing we both worked hard and planned this photo shoot. Teamwork and proper seat choice was how this shot happens.....and some dumb luck. The other shots with the 200mm 1.8 are much better, the lens I lost last year surely would have been easier to use but this lens is challenging my resolve, we really expected to get tossed out carrying in a big lens let alone a tripod which I did not bring...we had all the crap we needed however next time it's coming with!

The Road Less Traveled
The front makes it way past us here, what we don't know is the next four days will be terrible for camping and hiking. This front passes thru and the rain starts at bed time at the campsite, how is it someplace so arid and dry can receive so much rain when I plan a trip there....

The Snowset....
Waves of snow are crossing the lake....the sun nearly breaking through.
Update: This night our campsite at the Sylvan Lake campground had four inches of snow in it! Most years you can't get a campsite all the lake sites are taken....this was one of the coldest spots in the nation when we were there.

At The Base.....
The eroding sandstone at the base of Devils Tower, this is at the entrance to the Monument. The clouds are streaming by and it's quite blustery, four days we have been in the cold rain the sun feels good and I am shooting all day.

Clearing Clouds....
It lasted all but five minutes, I was able to walk the east side of the lake and shoot, snow was falling six minutes after this shot....It's May 24th.

The Fallen.....
On the way back down the Buchanan Pass Trail I stop and catch my breath on the rocks in the center of the river, the rest of the party carried on up the hill....I have yet to climatize to the altitude change.

Down the Vrain.....
Another shot of the St. Vrain river in Colorado, is it odd to see a portion of the river flowing against itself.

A Bend in the Road.....
Can you still see the tracks of the vehicle as it careaned over the edge....did they swerve to avoid the animal or was it it something that she said....Could have been that special place where they both had met.... all i know for sure is someone's not coming back.

Born in texas probably this past fall this little guy is not even in full color yet ...... it seems some birds do know what you are doing sometimes or are extremely interested in what us humans are doing, we did this for a few minutes then he started making pose like movements.
