Thank God Its Friday!
Have a great weekend!
John is right, it is an interesting crop, it's not often in nature do you see water do this ....pass at an angle in front of a fall....fast moving water and directional change in river direction is almost always present....I thought it was interesting, would have been better with a nice lense and a NDF.23APR2012

Mildly Interesting Human....
The cat is again enjoying some outdoor "me" time by following me around the yard as I do the chores, she is waiting patiently for the brush....enjoying the warm pavers too.
Looking and wondering what i"m up too now.... the animal loathes me sometimes...depending upon which yard implement I'm using......and how far away from the brush we are.
Thanks for looking, mans best friend?roweythe catnebraskawww.photoperson.comwww.pictureperson.com

Looking for a Meal.....
Our sparrow muncher stopped by at sunset last night for a little snack. He's four feet from the bird food but with his curved beak he can't pick it up so he waits for a small rat or bird to come by to feed.

Around the bend.....
Desoto Bend NWR.... this area has been underwater for most of last year, this is our first trip into the Refuge since the Missouri floods of last spring. Still lots of debris and no animals.
Thanks for all the awesome comments on my image "A Roll in the hay" yesterday, sometimes you just need some motivation to start processing things different, it seemed although I was going down a "dark" path while processing causing many images to load dark.....not that this shot "Around the Bend" is dark but the devastation still remains and it will be many years before the Missouri Valley floodplain returns to normal. All of the homes and business's in the area were underwater for over six months.... a major interstate systems was underwater for six months, imagine that in your neighborhood.....tragic.
There was a muted silence around the refuge as we drove it completely, no wildlife but there are clear signs the fauna is starting to emerge a spring arrives. It's amazing to see areas built up of slit the river displaced from the areas rural farms, some silt berms were twenty feet tall where there was once a depression prior to the flood......it took thousands of man hours and many pieces of equipment to displace enough dirt to confine the river from engulfing whole communities in the area.....the river, it moved an estimated 100 million cubic yards of farmland to six states downstream of Nebraska and out into the Gulf of Mexico......brutal dictator this Mother Nature.
Have a great weekend!
Trainwreck, you were right, a stopped clock is right twice a day.....I am a lucky guy, it's unfortunate things are not well with you in light of the events transpiring this week, This week I will step up my game and work a bit. You should be listening to Johnny Cash just like your dad did .......maybe hear the message.30MAR2012
A Roll in the Hay.....
Rural Iowa with a break in the clouds, moments to sunset....
Linda really liked this barn so this one is for you Linda, I enjoyed the trip.
Friday....finally. Another week of great images produced by y'all, thanks for commenting on mine.....Pj's in town so I had to step up the processing...... apparently. Party on Garth! Thanks for making it #1 today!29MAR2012

Just as we think the clouds are to dissipate we run across this barn, I am down wind of a freshly plowed field with a forty knot wind buffeting the camera on the tripod. I took multiple shots this was the best in the bunch I just couldn't overcome the shaking of the camera on the tripod for the longer higher resolution shots. Iowa is starting to blossom also, this shot is just south of Storm Lake. Single shot no HDR no stitching.
Have a great day, thanks for taking the time to comment on this image.27MAR2012
As the World turns.....
Forgotten days of another era against the backdrop of tomorrow, I shot this a mile from the barns over two hillsides. The wind whipping at forty knots you can see the radiant heat mirage from the dark ground in the larger size.
Rural Iowa, we started looking for birds...we settled for barns.
Have a great day, hope you enjoy a bit of fly over country.....soon all our landscapes will have a power generator in them, or will the large pile of birds below them slow their migration?iowabarnswind energy a million dollars each subsidizedwwwphotoperson.comwww.pictureperson.complight of america series

Through the raindrops...
As the storm clouds open the covey retreats to the big blue spruce tree we call the condo, one by one they all funnel past this one, he must be the elder. When all are safe he heads to the condo himself until it stops raining ...
Our rain is gone....hurry up flowers!
Have a great day!22MAR2012
Mom said there would be days like these.....
Four days and counting it has rained this hard most of the day. We have our herd of Cedar Waxwing's migrating thru as they do every year, they strip the large berry producing trees of the old soft decaying fruit left over from the winter, clean up the yard and are gone. Soon the Barn Swallows will return from Mexico and start building there nest in the same spots as always, our cat can't wait for the dive bombing to begin.....till then the rain continues, off and on today. Rain adversely effects the clarity of the shot, most seem out of focus it's really the distortion of the rain thru the shot. This shot is 800mm deep and almost 120 feet away....have a great day, hope you enjoy this one.www.photoperson.comwww.pictureperson.comcedar waxwingsbirdsanimals

Round six .....our little guy here is getting frustrated and is about to give up for the day. Now you really see the size difference between these two, most of the time the Starling is the champ......till this guy comes to the raceway.
I don't know how to top yesterday's shot that was quite overwhelming......thank you for all the great comments, I got an amazing amount of comments and the image went to my third best image I have ever produced here in the Daily's.....Thank's for your support! Country Storm......
Yesterday I was working at a friends home when a squall line came through, it just missed dumping torrential rains on me so just as it went speeding by I grabbed the camera and ran to the top of the hill trying to find something to put in the shot.
Nebraska......Tha Good Life State they call it.......Hope your day doesn't look like this, enjoy.
Thanks go out to Ginger and Ardell for having me out to such a special place!
Thanks for all the wonderful comments....#1 wow I am humbled. This was quite a nasty little storm on the plains, who said fly over country couldn't be cool! Again thanks for stopping by and looking at my work!nebraskathe good lifewww.photoperson.comwww.pictureperson.comstormwindmillclouds

HEY.......That was mine Mister!
These two duke it out all day, the big blue head eating always won, it didn't matter how many starling's were there he just came in and took what he wanted. One time the Starling put up a tussle and got a feather ripped out......they are so comical too watch!
The warmer it gets the more active things are becoming in the gristmill raceway.....
Soon the flowers go into the gristmill raceway as we do each year and we will need to feed at another site, till then the battle's rage on!
Its a new week, make it a great one, thanks for taking the time to look at my image!www.pictureperson.comwww.photoperson.combirdsanimalsstarlinggrackel

Mr. Cardinal...
I'm 800mm deep in the backyard.....I thought the trees in the background of this shot looked cool, what do you think?
It's not really about the bird.....or is it?
I have computer problems causing me to be disconnected from the internet the past few days.....trying to resolve that issue....sorry if I have yet to comment on your image.12MAR2012
Woodrough came by the raceway of the gristmill the other day.....
It is cold out and rainy with a very overcast sky.....I took this right after sunset, this bird is exceptionally hard to shoot as they are here and gone in a flash....I was waiting as I sometimes do in the evening for the herd to come get there last meal before dark. We have direct sunlight on this point of the raceway to the gristmill in the morning I just can't seem to get up in time as I have a lot of things going on right now but I always have the lens on the tripod.........more to come.
Have a great week! Thanks for all your great comments!birdanimalwoodpeckerwww.photoperson.comwww.pictureperson.com

Forty miles to nowhere.....
We are as far out in the back country of Wisconsin as it gets, the bridge we are on takes you deep into the Peshtigo River Wilderness in Marinette county. We came this way to catch a few dozen of the state rustic roads that have existed for almost a century, the fall foliage in this area was tremendous and I am still processing images out of the trip. An abundance of wild area to navigate Wisconsin backcountry is within eight hours of sixty million people yet few that live in the state take advantage of the sheer beauty that abounds there. Much like your state or country each has that spot known for being the Mecca of beauty and calling for recreation or use, Wisconsin is a great outdoor paradise. Looking through the many images of the trip we noticed this area has a certain density of hardwoods that provide a array of color unlike anywhere else in the state. Just to the left of this image is the parking lot of Goodman County Park it has a few wood bridges that take you to the many trails into the backcountry. Multiple waterfalls and or rapids are a stones throw from this park a few old rustic cabins dot the landscape and picnic tables are plentiful near the parking lot. We got here fairly late in the day and pressed on to find a shower and a bed for the evening. We spent the nights before in Door County and our many miles of driving today gave us this special look at quite a spot.
