16OCT2012 Eastbound Freight The right of way down by the tracks are starting to light up with Fall colors. We spent the better part of an hour here before being escorted from the railroads property....by police. There was some other commotion going on behind the train in this image....the next place the officer said he was going. I've spent many hours on the tracks....never had the experience we had yesterday...some things just make you go hummmmm. At least they didn't confiscate the card in the camera, got a few good images.....what do you think of this? Thanks for all your wonderful comments on the Beautiful Bridge image yesterday.....it was like finding a needle in a haystack when I found that view next to the stream. I try to comment on all the days images....sorry if I miss yours occasionally......your images make me better! Thanks John for the insight from your Country, I think we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. An event was happening behind the trail just off the tracks, the officer was a great guy and a great friend of mine has a son on the force so our Police are mindful people have cameras and video at their fingertips. None the less this is a busy railroad and they are working, in fact we had three past us in an hour and a lot of switching as we are at the head of a urban industrial yard or dump and a crew switch point area .....their nervous too, and you have a large lens on that camera. Omaha Nebraska is the railroad town of America, headquarters of the Union Pacific Railroad, they make our economy resilient to sharp fluctuations and take our agri- business related products to markets around the world, safely and efficiently day after day.
15OCT2012 Beautiful Bridge It takes your breath away when you see a shot like this in a slow moving stream, a second and a half exposure at F22 ....Mc Clintoch Falls County Park Wisconsin at 1 pm. This area is a treasure trove of wonderful scenic beauty throughout the year, there are a few CCC lodges scattered in the park with hiking trails leaving the Park in all directions. 11OCT2012 Morgan Falls Quite hard to find five miles down a dirt trail, a real nice waterfall to navigate around, great foliage and the water here runs east to west, has nice light all day long. We drove past the trailhead twice on this trip and never found it last year, persistence pays off. In the middle of bear country, saw none, they are where they find you.
11OCT2012 The Forest The road between Mc Clintoch Falls and Strong Falls....Wisconsin. This was the best fall foliage spot for two years running, Where's yours?
10OCT2012 Washburn Sunset We just got done with a busy day of image hunting, we swung by The Steak Pit in Washburn Wisconsin, a great restaurant with this view from our table, it has and an outside deck too. Have a great day....It's hump day! The tile in the studio is coming along well...maybe a picture soon, Let me know what you think, please leave me a comment, thanks!
09OCT2012 Strong Falls We are as far out into the wilderness as it gets and my low battery sign is flashing rapidly in the viewfinder.....and I have left the charger back in Nebraska in the cabinet. We are now in a race to get to Green Bay to purchase a charger for the camera batteries so the rest of the trip to Door County isn't a waste. The next fall we visit on the way to Green Bay I fall jumping across the river....My jaw now has a large contusion on it and i again have hit the camera on the rocks hard, guess i'm not as nimble as iI once was. All in a days fun.....let me know what you think of this, My face is better the swelling is gone. A three second shot at F22 in total blue sky sunlight...I Put a four stop ND filer on to kill the light and a circular polarizer as well.....the water is cold this time of year. Just to the right out of the picture is a CCC camp built in the early 1900's, there are hundreds of forest service workers eating lunch here for the day. The scent of fried chicken overwhelms the heavy fir smell of the bog that feeds the river system in this area. Last year this location had a bald eagle in the trees, it wasn't a very good picture but I was a newby then. The forecast for later today was rain and snow mixed sleet, we are headed south!
